Perfomance programme III (Spain)

The musical Project you are about to watch is the final result of the European Educative Comenius Project under the name European Cultural Crisol -Melting Pot. The Project was created for our Secondary pupils by the teachers from our school Ildefonso Martos Carretero and José Manuel Gil Sánchez, with the collusion of our headmaster and the enthusiastic support of our firm’s head. We were chosen among other applicants by the Permanent Learning Program offered by the Autonomous Organization of Educational European Programs through our Government, the Conselleria de Educación de la Generalitat Valenciana, and we were granted with it for two school years 2010-2011 and 2011-2012.



Our Project is being carried out together with two associated European high schools. We have been working with them for these two years and now they are visiting us this week. Thus, we are all together today performing our musical play. Very soon we’ll go to Finland (in January 2012) and to Poland (in March the same year) in order to perform Melting Pot in the other participating countries.



The Project objectives were different. First of all we looked for an improvement in the students’ and teachers’ linguistic competences in English. Next we wanted our students to write a musical play which reflected the common values enhanced by the Permanent Learning Programmes: to make our cultures come closer and to reinforce the feeling of European Citizenship, our common but different reference. And all the work should be done in cooperation with the other countries, to get to know about each other and establish some links through the universal languages of music, dance and theatre.



We have created a play which deals with six fundamental issues: peace, democracy, tolerance, and fight against racism, sex and age discrimination. Moreover we have added a little show of our cultures and traditions and the places where we live, to finish with the performance of a song which shows our union in this wonderful experience we’re going through. All these matters will be mixed inside our Melting Pot, a metal container which was formerly used to mix different metals to create a newer stronger mixture. We’ll metaphorically mix our cultures to create a cresol from them, a newer and stronger Europe, more fraternal and multicultural.

The performance will be supported by Unión Musical Padre Basté (a music group formed by pupils from the school) and the Coro Infantil Gregorio Gea (A children choir), both conducted by Ildefonso Martos Carretero)

Finally we will read a COMMON MANIFEST in all the languages from our Comenius association as the end of the play.

Comenius week activities in our school


This week is an european comenius project's week. In our center we will do some different things like this:
  •  We do a lip dub video and participate in a european video prix. Next day we upload here but you can see and advance here.
  • We mail to diferents press our jobs.
  • We do a public presentation of our project the European Day, next may 9. In school theatre we do a presentation with music, video, etc. Will be great...
  • And more surprise...

Second work day in Valencia (Borja's cronichal) 6-IV-11

This Wednesday we did our fact files and we sent them to all our contacts. Some of us couldn´t add a picture and we had to do it at home. After that we started to do a power point presentation about Valencia. We divided in four groups and each one had to do a part of the power point. The groups were: one group which has to organize and hang out things on our notice board; another group which has to take photos of everywhere at the school; another one which has to explain the Spanish education system and the other group which has to explain all the school´s organization.

First work day in Valencia (Sara's cronichal)

This Wednesday we started to prepare the Comenius.
First, we introduced ourselves, saying our name, our age, if we have experience with music and drama, and telling why we like this project.
After this, we made the four flags (Finland, Poland, Spain and the EU) with cardboards.
Later, with the computers, we learned how to use the Twinspace, and we made a blog entry with our favourite Spanish song and our favourite singer, and making this we learned how to put Youtube’s videos and how to hypervinculate a web page with a word of the text.
Before went home, we taked a picture of all the group.
